What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link contains tracking information that allows a retailer or network to attribute a qualifying purchase to Splintercat. The retailer may then pay us a portion of the sale or another defined fee.
What affiliate money cannot buy
It cannot buy a ranking, rating, recommendation, test outcome, or favourable edit. Retailer commission rates may differ, but suitability and evidence determine the editorial conclusion.
How links will be identified
Monetized pages will display a plain-language disclosure close to the relevant recommendation and before the first affiliate link. A paid-link label will appear beside each monetized retailer button, and affiliate links will use appropriate machine-readable attributes such as rel="sponsored".
Amazon Associates
If Amazon Associates tracking is activated, every page carrying those links will display Amazon’s required statement clearly before the first link: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” Splintercat will never invent a tracking ID or describe an ordinary retailer link as monetized.
Prices and availability
Retail prices, stock, promotions, shipping, taxes, warranties, and return policies can change without notice. A link is not a guarantee of the price or availability shown when an article was last checked. Canadian and U.S. retailer options will be distinguished where practical.
Free samples, discounts, and sponsorships
If an item was supplied, discounted, loaned, or connected to a sponsorship, that fact will be disclosed on the relevant page. Sponsored content, if ever accepted, will be clearly labelled and kept distinct from independent editorial rankings.
The current launch state
The gear research hub, category shortlists, and product evidence records currently use ordinary Amazon.com and Amazon.ca links and earn no commission. Canadian links may open a search when an exact Canadian model was not verified. The indoor-cat setup guide also contains no affiliate links. This disclosure and every affected page will be updated before monetized tracking begins.
